NEW CHILDREN’S LEARN TO RIDE FACILITY AT BELLBOWRIE

Work will commence this month on a new children’s bicycle learn to ride facility at Kangaroo Gully Road Park, Bellbowrie.

Brisbane City Council agreed to the redevelopment of the park following positive feedback from community consultation undertaken last year.

Kangaroos Gully Road Park previously contained a small playground and picnic facility but have been removed because the structures had rusted and were no longer complaint with Council’s safety standards.

The works will include:

  • installation of new park embellishments, including a new picnic shelter, pedestrian pathways, seating, a drinking fountain and bins
  • construction of a retaining wall along the eastern boundary of the works, and
  • landscaping works, including planting of shade trees, screening trees, shrubs and turfing

Works are expected to be completed early 2021, weather and construction conditions permitting.

Some temporary access changes to the park may be required, to enable construction to be completed safely. This may include temporary access changes from the pedestrian pathway off Redgum Close during construction near that area.

Signage will be in place detailing alternative access if required. Residents nearby may experience some construction noise, minor dust, low levels of vibration and increased vehicle movement in the surrounding streets and within the park.

Pullenvale Ward Councillor, Greg Adermann welcomed the new learn to ride facility which will provide new opportunities for recreation and play in the park.

“Council is committed to enhancing and diversifying the recreational opportunities throughout green space in the city to ensure they cater to a broad spectrum of the community,” Cr. Adermann said.
