The growth and potential of the Bellbowrie and Moggill communities has been recognised through the opening of the new Moggill Village Shopping Centre today.
Pullenvale Ward Councillor Greg Adermann thanked Consolidated Properties for investing $45 million to build the new centre – the first of its type to be delivered in the local area since 1973.
He said the local community’s expectations for a modern community hub catering for all their requirements under the one roof had been met through the opening of this centre.
“Just as important, the site is built to flood proof levels, ensuring it’s a future-proofed centre for the community,” Cr Adermann said.
“More than 200 jobs were created during the construction phase while a further 150 jobs at Coles and another 50 positions within the range of speciality stores will be ongoing.”
Cr. Adermann said the Moggill Bellbowrie area was one of considerable growth, boasting a population exceeding 11,000.
“In the past decade, it has recorded the highest population growth of all communities within the Pullenvale Ward,” he said.
“The latest Community Profile shows the highest percentage of people in the 25 to 44 age group live in the Moggill Bellbowrie area.
“The Moggill Bellbowrie area also recorded the highest number of residential building approvals valued at a total of $15 million, for the latest available 12-month period.
“And based on future projections, this area is expected to experience the highest annual growth rate for the next 20 years.”
Cr. Adermann said Consolidated Properties had a 40-year track record in developing high-quality, landmark retail, commercial and residential projects spanning Australia’s eastern seaboard.
He thanked them and Hutchinson Builders for being available and listening to the local community during the construction process.
